The brief

Otherwise is a no-nonsense creative studio in Amsterdam where strategy, design and production come together. They make packaging, direct mail, brochures, trade-show materials, infographics, campaigns, photography and online work. That work had to take centre stage on the site. The brief: a portfolio that shows what they make in a single screen, with a page full of projects for each discipline. And everything easy to keep up to date: new projects, the homepage copy, the contact details and the promotions they run.

The work in the shop window

The homepage is a single screen, no long scrolling page. Across the top runs an endless slider with the eight disciplines, drifting slowly on its own; give it a nudge with the scroll wheel or a finger and the cards flex with the speed. Below it, the core promise: "Anders denken én anders doen" – think differently, and act differently. Each card opens the discipline, with a gallery of projects and captions. The images are Otherwise's own work; the site puts them in the shop window.

Motion in moderation

On arrival, the heading and copy slide into view line by line, and only then does the slider get going. The contact panel unfolds from the corner. On laptops with a shorter screen the homepage switches to a more compact layout, and on mobile the screen height stays right even as the address bar slides in and out.

Promotions without a developer

A bar across the top of the site carries the current promotion. Like the image on the homepage, it links through to The Otherprice Days: a dedicated page for offers such as the birthday discount. The text in that bar, the homepage copy, the homepage image and the contact details all live in the CMS. They put a new promotion live themselves.

Self-managed

Sanity Studio runs inside the site itself, with visual editing: Otherwise sees the page while they edit it. Each discipline is a document with a cover image, text and a captioned gallery, and AI Assist helps with the alt text. Changes go live instantly through the Live Content API.
